installed,itallowsyoutoeithercreatealistof
blockedprogramsoralistofallowedprograms.Inthe
blockedprogramsmode,anyprogramonthelistisblocked.
Intheallowedprogrammode,anyprogramNOTonthelist
isblocked.Whichmodeyouchoosetousedependson
whetheryouhaveafewprogramsyouwanttoblock(in
whichcaseyouwouldusetheblockedprogrammode),oryou
haveafewprogramsyouwanttoallowpeopletouse(in
whichcaseyouwouldusetheallowedprogrammode).

Inbothmodes,youcanassignoptionalpasswordstothe
programsonthelist.Inblockedprogrammode,ifno
passwordisassignedtoaprogram,itcannotbe
individuallyunblocked.Ifapasswordisassignedtoa
blockedprogram,itcanbeunblockedusingthepassword.
Intheallowedprogrammode,ifnopasswordisassignedto
theprogram,itisneverblocked.Ifapasswordis
assignedtotheprogram,itisblockeduntilsomeone
entersthepasswordforthatprogram.passwordsareuseful
ifseveralpeopleusethecomputer,andyouwanteachto
beallowedtousedifferentprograms.Youcangiveeach
personthepasswordstotheprogramstheyareallowedto
use.

Anadministratorpasswordisrequiredtoaddorremove
programsfromthelistsorchangetheirpasswords.This
providesthepersonwhoinstallsProgramSentrywiththe
abilitytocompletelycontroltheuseofacomputer.

Allblockingcanbetemporarilyturnedoffusing
supervisorlevelpassword.Thispasswordcannotbeusedto
addprogramsto(orremoveprogramsfrom)theprogram
lists.

Thisprogramismostusefulinabusinesssetting,where
thesupervisorneedstheabilitytocontrolwhocando
whatoneachcompanycomputer.Itcanalsobeusefulina
familysetting,however,togiveparentscontrolofthe
computertoblockchildrenfromusingcertainprograms.
